Peninsula transfer station to accept household hazardous waste

July 9, 2012

Starting in July, Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula residents can drop off their household hazardous waste at the Purdy Transfer Station in Gig Harbor free of charge on the second Friday and Saturday of each month. Household hazardous waste is leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients. Examples include cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs and oil paint.

Items should be placed in boxes before they are brought to the transfer station. Collection staff will unload the boxes from each vehicle.
