2020 Pierce County Health Plans

Pierce County is committed to providing employees with benefits that will help them with their healthcare needs while safeguarding the resources provided by taxpayers.

 

The County Executive has submitted a request to the Pierce County Council for their approval to transition from the County's current plans to more stable state plans, administered by the Public Employees Benefit Board, or PEBB.

County Plan Employees
If the transition to PEBB benefits is approved by Council, employees who are currently eligible for County plans (Regence PPO, Kaiser, dental, life and disability insurance) will have an entirely new menu of benefits to choose from during this year's annual Open Enrollment, for coverage beginning January 1, 2020.

Washington Teamsters Welfare Trust Employees
Employees in this benefit group will have the same medical, dental, life and disability options for 2020 that they had for 2019, in accordance with their union labor agreement. See the Health Benefits page for plan information.

PEBB Medical Plans

The information provided here represents a 5% employee premium cost share for PEBB plans, as proposed to Council for approval, compared with the current employee cost share for current County medical plans. The columns in bold highlight the current County plans and the most comparable PEBB plans.

Retiree Benefits

Employees enrolled in PEBB insurance coverage at the time of retirement may be eligible to continue or defer enrollment in PEBB insurance coverage provided they meet procedural and eligibility requirements. The HCA also provides information about PEBB Retiree benefits
