Aging Out Loud
Aging Out Loud is a FREE conference for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, their friends, chosen family and allies in Pierce County who want to learn about the issues that impact older LGBTQIA+ adults.
The conference will be held Tuesday September 24, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m at the McGavick Conference Center, located at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood.
Through our partnership with Tacoma Older LGBT, we have been hosting various events around the County for LGBTQIA+ seniors. Based upon input provided by the community at our "LGBT Aging in Pierce County" Town Hall last March, this conference brings together four panels of experts to discuss the following topics:
1. Senior Housing
Creating and supporting affordable LGBTQIA+ welcoming housing for older adults
2. Long-Term Care
Understanding and choosing LGBTQIA+ affirming long-term care options and resources available
Exploring the health and mental health needs of older LGBTQIA+ adults, including services for veterans, HIV long-term survivors, and transgender and gender non-conforming people
4. Estate Planning
Estate planning for the LGBTQIA+ community
Information about speakers and more details on the event coming soon. Stay tuned!
