ADA Overview
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life.
Pierce County is required under Title II of the ADA to develop a Self-Evaluation Report (
28 CFR § 35.105) and an ADA Transition Plan (
28 CFR § 35.150) regarding bringing pedestrian facilities into compliance with the ADA. Both efforts focus on county-owned facilities within the public road right-of-way in unincorporated Pierce County.
- The Self-Evaluation Report details examined county policies and whether existing pedestrian facilities located in the public right-of-way are in compliance with the ADA.
- The ADA Transition Plan outlines how Pierce County will bring these pedestrian facilities into compliance with the ADA.
