Companionship is designed to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for individuals of all abilities and their families. There is no membership fee. Pre-registration is required.

Create beautiful art while having a fun party! Judy, our talented art instructor, will guide you step-by-step while you make a masterpiece that you can hang in your own home. Enjoy cookies, friends, and discover your creative side. All supplies and refreshments are provided, just bring yourself! All supplies and refreshments are provided. Each month will have a different theme to paint including animals, flowers, landscapes, and people.

Movie & Ice Cream Club

We’re off to the movies! Each month Companionship Movie Club participants will take a trip to a local movie theater and watch a great movie. The movie titles will be a surprise until the week before the outing, but we promise they’ll be great! We’ll watch comedies, action movies, rom-coms, animated movies and more. All movies will be rated G to PG-13. We’ll always stop for an ice cream treat either before or after the movie too! Companionship’s Movie Club is designed for individuals 16-30 years to participate in fun outings with friends.

Museum of Flight

Companionship is back with its series of inclusive art classes. Participants will learn to express themselves through a wide variety of art media and techniques. All materials are included in the program fee.

Culture Club

Ready to get a little more culture in your life? Each month Companionship Culture Club participants will visit a different museum or other culturally significant destination and learn about different art styles, lifestyles, and cultures. Then we’ll chat about all we’ve seen and learned over a coffee (or cocoa). Companionship’s Culture Club is designed for individuals 16-30 years to participate in fun outings with friends.

Girls: Ceramics, Painting & Lunch

This one’s just for the gals, so invite all your girlfriends! We’ll spend the morning chatting as we paint ceramics at Throwing Mud Gallery in Tacoma’s Old Town. Then we’ll head across the street and have a tasty lunch at The Spar. Painted and fired pieces will be available for pick up from one of our community centers two weeks later.

Ferry Ride & Seattle Aquarium

We’re ready for some time around the water! We’ll walk onto the ferry in Bremerton and watch for sea life on our way to Seattle where we’ll visit the Seattle Aquarium. We’ll have lunch at the café and ride the ferry back to Bremerton. Bring extra cash if you would like to purchase souvenirs from the gift shop at the aquarium. This activity is co-ed, so invite all your friends!

Theater Night: Les Miserables - High School Edition (PG-13)

Through a partnership between Pierce County Parks & Recreation and the Lakewood Playhouse, we are excited to offer this bonus activity to our Teen & Young Adults Social Activity participants! We’re off to the Lakewood Playhouse to watch Les Miserables – High School Edition. Les Miserables is the world’s longest running musical – a true modern classic based on Victor Hugo’s novel and featuring one of the most memorable scores of all time. A musical phenomenon, this play is an epic tale of passion and redemption in the throes of revolution. This activity is co-ed, so invite all your friends!

Guys: Northwest Trek Wildlife Park & Lunch

This one’s just for the guys! Grab your best guy friends and join us on a trip to Northwest Trek. We’ll explore the park, walk the trails, and ride the tram as we look for native Northwest wildlife. We’ll stop for a tasty lunch at the Forest Café. Bring extra cash if you would like to purchase souvenirs from the giftshop.
