Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

What is the TIP?


The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) outlines Pierce County's future plans for transportation improvement projects and programs. The TIP is the primary budget workplan for building transportation improvement projects in Pierce County. This annually updated document is prepared pursuant to Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Chapters 36.54 and 36.81

Milestones


  • November 13, 2018: The Pierce County Council voted unanimously (6-0) to adopt Ordinance 2018-82s.
  • November 16, 2018: The Pierce County Executive, Bruce F. Dammeier, approved Ordinance 2018-82s.
  • November 26, 2018: Effective date of Ordinance 2018-82s.

Draft: 2020-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Fourteen-Year Ferry Program

Scheduled Milestones


  • August 27, 2019: A public hearing was held at 9:30 a.m., at the Public Meeting Room, 2401 S 35th St., Tacoma to present the 2020-2025 Draft TIP and Fourteen-year Ferry Program to the Pierce County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to recommend approval of the Draft TIP and Ferry Program.
  • September 11, 2019: Submitted to the County Executive and the County Council.
  • October 2019: Economic and Infrastructure Committee (EIDC) public meetings anticipated.
  • November 2019: Full Council review and final approval anticipated.
