Driving positive change
Pierce County is driving positive change with the installation of two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available for public use on Pierce County government campuses. The Level 2 units work for Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf and all other electric cars that use the J1772 standard.
More Options, Less Pollution - Public EV Charging Stations
EV charging stations for public use are located in the Blue Lot adjacent to the new jail, outside of the County-City Building's second floor entrance and at the Annex near the LESA Communications tower. All of these units were funded through a grant from Western Washington Clean Cities as part of their Petroleum Reduction Program. Cost for use of the chargers is free however parking fees still apply. The chargers shut off automatically when a battery is fully charged.
