Ice Skating Lesson for Everyone!
Where Should I Begin?
At Sprinker Ice Arena we have group lessons for all ages and abilities. Participants who have never taken skating lessons should register for PreSkate 1 or Beginning 1, depending on their age. For skaters with some experience, the ISI Program Coordinator or Skating Director is available to assist in selecting the appropriate class.
What should I wear?
Wear warm and comfortable clothing that allows easy freedom of movement, including gloves. We recommend all-sport helmets for everyone, especially beginning level skaters.
Do I need my own skates?
Rental skates are included in the cost of the lesson. If you would like to purchase skates, Riedell Figure Skates are available starting as low as $55.00.
Who will teach my lesson?
Sprinker Ice Arena has a highly qualified Professional Coaching Staff that includes all gold medalists, National level coaches. Each coach is a member of these organizations that are recognized worldwide: Ice Skating Institute (ISI), US Figure Skating, and Professional Skater's Association (PSA).
How will I advance?
Each student will be evaluated on the first & second day of class to ensure that the class level matches the student's ability. Skill achievement tests take place on the last week of class. Upon evaluation the instructor will recommend the appropriate level for the skater's next session of class. Through the ISI Learn to Skate program, each skater has the opportunity to continue to advance as far as he or she desires. A skater can master skills to feel more comfortable skating on a public session, or he or she can work towards competitive recreational skating, and more.
Can I register in the middle of a session?
New skaters may join the program up through the second week of the eight-week session.
For more information, please contact Sprinker's ISI Program Coordinator, Janice Teodoro-Forbes at (253)798-4045.
