Pierce County Parks and Recreation has many different venues available for rental. Whether you are looking for a wedding site, planning a family or neighborhood event, having a company picnic or having a sports tournament, we have the solution for you at the following facilities!


Fort Steilacoom Park

Picnic and special event reservations for Fort Steilacoom Park are managed and operated by the City of Lakewood, 253-589-2489.


This majestic complex is 60 acres filled with large wooded and turf areas, a variety of buildings, and improvements:

  • Frontier Lodge - this newly renovated and expanded building offers a natural setting for a retreat, receptions, weddings, or a meeting. The Lodge has two main rooms and a kitchen. Rent separately or the entire lodge.
  • Agricultural display buildings and arenas, animal display buildings for small animal shows, vet clinics
  • Two covered picnic shelters: Picnic Shelter #2 has a commercial food service kitchen, electricity, and 12 picnic tables. Picnic Shelter #3 has 20 tables with an adjacent open field.
  • Restrooms with showers
  • Equestrian Facilities: two horse barns with a total of 88 stalls, warm up arena, and main show arena, 200 ft x 150 ft. Suitable for horse shows, horse training clinics, horse riding clinics, horse barrel racing
  • Quarter midget race track. Little Wheels Racing Association hosts the Regional Quarter Midget Race.
  • Smaller reception hall with small kitchenette for small parties and business/civil organization meetings

Reservations for Frontier Park in Graham are issued (phone and walk-in) for any date during the calendar year. Large areas of park are available to the casual user at no charge. Reservations may be made over the phone at (253)841-8515 with a valid Visa or MasterCard.

All fees must be paid in full in order to receive a permit. However, you are welcome to call Cara on the availability of dates at (253)841-8515, Monday-Friday, hours vary.

Spanaway Park shelter Spanaway Park's 5 covered picnic shelters have tables, grills, concrete floors, electricity and running water. The shelters are also close to many other park facilities including restrooms, children's play area, swimming beaches (no lifeguards), a fishing pier, open playfields, walking trails along several thousand feet of waterfront and home of ' Fantasy Lights '. Boat launch fees charged.

  • All picnic shelters (subject to availability) can be reserved once our office has processed a completed application with payment and a permit is issued.
  • All picnic shelters are closed from October through March of each year.

Picnic reservations for Spanaway Park begin the first business day in March. Reservations requested after April 30th will be charged an additional $15 late fee.

Reservations are accepted through the end of September for each calendar year. Reservations must be made 2 weeks in advance of the event date. Reservations may be requested by mail and/or walk in to the Pierce County Parks Adminstrative office at the Lakewood Community Center.

Dawson Picnic Shelter Dawson Playfield is located on East 90th and Portland Avenue in Tacoma. Dawson's one picnic shelter is covered, has a concrete floor with six picnic tables, and is next to the new play equipment. The shelter does not have cooking facilities.

This popular park also includes a softball field (nonregulation lighted), tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, uncovered picnic tables, restrooms, and walking track.

Shelter Fees:

  • $50 paid by April 30
  • $65 paid after April 30
  • Maximum occupancy is 100


The Lakewood Community Center contains a variety of public facilities, including a large gymnasium as well as meeting rooms.

  • Gymnasium : 120'x86'. Offers a regulation size basketball court with a variety of uses including volleyball, badminton, pickleball, and 2 junior high size basketball courts. Showers and locker rooms are provided for both men and women. The gym is ideal for large group gatherings, dances, banquets, antique shows, booth displays, group recreation activities and various sporting events. Seats 650.
  • Multi-Purpose Room : Room 203 - 35'x40'. A multi-purpose room with wooden floors. There is an adjoining kitchenette with a service window. This room is ideal for meetings, wedding receptions, banquets, dances, workshops, etc. Seats 100.
  • Conference Room: Room 103. A carpeted conference room ideal for business or small group meetings. Seats 25-50 people.

Rental Fees

  • Prices are determined on an hourly basis and on the type of function. Fees include the time you enter the room until the room is vacated.
  • Decorating and clean up time included in rental time.
  • Set-up of tables and chairs is done by center staff. Additional fees may be charged for unusual set-up arrangements or additional clean-up requirements, damage or theft.
  • A damage deposit is required to secure reservation and is refundable after the event.

To inquire about the availability of the Lakewood Community Center, please call (253) 798-4176. The office is staffed weekdays from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Center is closed for holidays.

Sprinker Recreation Center offers both indoor and outdoor facility rentals.

Outdoor Facilities: The outdoor field facilities are popular for team sports competition including baseball, fastpitch and slowpitch softball, soccer and football. These facilities can be rented for special tournaments and events.

Indoor Facilities: Everything from meetings rooms and fully equipped kitchens to the ice skating arena are available. Specialized areas are reserved for such activities as dancing, banquets, business gatherings, class and workshop demonstrations, wedding receptions, retirement parties, private skating or broom hockey parties and team tournaments.

  • Rainier Room - Holds up to 200 people, has kitchen
  • Alder Room - Holds up to 100 people, has kitchen
  • Cascade Room - Holds up to 100 people, has kitchen
  • Cedar Room - Holds up to 100 people, no kitchen

Meridian Habitat Park & Community Center is located on the corner of 144th Street and Meridian Ave South in South Hill, Puyallup. This 36+ acre park is ideal for a variety of events such as weddings, receptions, staff retreats, classes, and concerts. The outside grounds may be reserved for larger outdoor gatherings with a lovely pond setting and walking area.

  • Auditorium - seats 300 or 200 seated if around tables.
  • Large Kitchen - includes conventional/microwave ovens, a refrigerator, sink, and adequate counter space that makes this a functional facility.
  • Several Break Out Rooms are also available for small meetings or classes.
