Bring you and your furry friend dressed in spring attire (prizes will be awarded) and enjoy a beautiful walk at Pierce County Parks and Recreation?s first ever Dog Day in May. This fun event is aimed at giving dogs their day in the sun will be held (rain or shine) Saturday, May 10 at the Heritage Recreation Center, 9010 128th St. E., Puyallup.

Join the Pierce County Sheriff's K-9 team for the 3 mile route! The route is a paved trail; a dry and flat, easy walk suitable for families and people of all abilities.


9:00 - 10:00 am

Participants will meet near the ZiegerElementary Play Shed which adjoins Heritage Recreation Center.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Walk will begin and end on the Nathan Chapman Trail.


Walkers can park at Heritage Recreation Center's parking lot (from 94th Ave) then proceed as directed to the check-in area.


Pre-Registration (must be received by May 9, 2008):

  • $15.00 per dog
  • $5.00 for a second dog
  • T-shirts are an additional $8.00 each.

Day of Event Registration:

  • $20.00 per dog
  • $5.00 for second dog
  • $8.00 T-shirts will be available as long as supplies last


A complimentary 5x7 picture will be available for each participant courtesy of Sportraits.

A complimentary bandana will also be awarded to each dog while supplies last.


  • Dogs should be current in vaccinations.
  • No dogs under six months of age.
  • No female dogs in heat.
  • No aggressive dogs.
  • No more than two dogs per registration/participant.
  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older).
  • Keep your dog(s) on a 7-foot or shorter leash at all times.
  • Clean up after your dog(s). (Bags will be provided)
  • Bring your dog(s) only if he or she is well socialized.
  • Walk the course only if you and your pet are in adequate physical condition.
  • Water will be provided for both dogs and people along the course.


Proceeds benefit Pierce County Parks and Recreation's youth programs, including the FREE Summer Kidmobile program as well as Puyallup Animal Rescue.


Puyallup Animal Rescue, Family Dog Training Center, Forza Coffe Company, Pierce County Public Works Water Programs, Pierce County Sherif, Pierce County Auditor's Office, Dog Breath Yoga, Talking Rain, and Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dancers.
