The mission of the Government Relations Office is to foster relationships between Pierce County and other governments.
This includes assisting in the development of county policies, management of legislative activities, and communication and coordination with other public entities at the federal, state, regional and local levels. It covers representing Pierce County to other organizations and lobbying state and federal legislators.
In line with the office's mission, building and maintaining relationships and monitoring issues related to the county is a key part of the department's role.
Government Relations frequently represents Pierce County with:
- State Legislative Committees,
- Federal Congressional Staff,
- Chambers of Commerce,
- City Manager Groups,
- The Washington State Association of Counties
- Tribes and River Councils.
