Firearms Advisory Commission Vacancy - Posted May 30, 2008

Applications are being accepted to fill a position as representative of a Pierce County shooting club on the Firearms Advisory Commission. The commission, which convenes as needed to review proposed legislation regarding firearms, makes recommendations to the County Council and Executive on firearms-related issues.

Examples of issues include petitions regarding the creation, dissolution or amendment of areas where the discharge of firearms shall be prohibited and restricted; and the suitableness of shotgun use in areas where the discharge of firearms is prohibited.

Board members are appointed by the County Executive subject to County Council confirmation. The term is four years. Applicants must provide documentation of a safety firearm class or Washington hunter safety class.

Applications are to be returned to the Executive?s Office no later than June 11, 2008.

Pierce County Planning and Land Servies is seeking applicants for vacancies in the following land use advisory commission areas:

  • Spanaway
  • Gig Harbor
  • Summit View
  • Summit Waller
  • Upper Nisqually

The land use advisory commissions meet monthly to review development applications and issues affecting their jurisdictional area. If you live in any of the areas above, please consider volunteering.
