The Margaret K. Williams Arts Awards are given annually to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the development of the arts in Pierce County. Recipients are selected for initiative and innovation, and are honored at an annual reception.

Margaret K. Williams, for whom these awards are named, was a member of the Pierce County Arts Commission. She was active in the arts for many years and played a major role in shaping the Commission's ongoing commitment to the recognition and celebration of Pierce County's cultural diversity. Following her death in 1990, the Commission named these awards in her honor.

Recipients of the 2006 Margaret K. Williams Arts Awards were:

  • Arts Education - Joelle K. Hanton
  • Arts Education - Jim and Diana Craig
  • Excellence in the Arts - Barefoot Studios
  • Jim Smith Award - UP for Art
