The Pierce County Council regulates the zoning for firearms restrictions within Pierce County. Community members may petition the council to add areas, remove areas or change existing areas regulated as a firearm restriction zone.

Community members interested in petitioning the council to make changes to the firearm restriction zones can download the Firearms Discharge Petition and submit the request to the council.

  1. Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
  2. Never point the weapon at anything you do not want to shoot.
  3. Keep finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
  4. Be sure of your target and what lies beyond before firing.

It is the responsibility of the shooter to ensure the area is an open shooting area. It is also the responsibility of the shooter to have the landowner's permission to be on the property and to know the location of the property boundaries. Finally, it is the responsibility of the shooter to ensure discharge of firearms to be in a safe manner.
