Neighborhood Patrol Deputy Jake Kreis gets to do what patrol deputies do not. He gets to target community problems in a proactive, rather than reactive, measure.
Instead of being sent to calls by a dispatcher, he monitors the community as a whole to see if there are changes in everyday life. Are there more vehicle prowls near the schools? Are fences being vandalized in particular neighborhoods? Is there a house which has a lot of short-term visitors on one particular night of the week?
Part of this crime fighting process involves getting to know members of the community. This could be through neighborhood blockwatch meetings or community events. This is also where you, as members of the community, come in. Are you planning an event and would like one-on-one time with a deputy to get answers to your burning questions? Or maybe just to have a patrol car on site with the flashing lights?
If so, please contact Community Service Officer Emily Watson at 253-798-4995 to have your event scheduled. We look forward to hearing from you! To learn more about the Neighborhood Patrol program, visit the Pierce County Sheriff Neighborhood Patrol page.
