Pierce County Animal Control is a division of the Pierce County Auditor. The unit is in charge of providing animal control services to residents in the unincorporated areas of Pierce County. These services include licensing, animal complaint investigation, containment and citations. Routine animal control questions can be answered by calling 253-798-7387.

Pierce County Sheriff Deputies are not animal control officers and will not respond to routine animal control issues. If an animal incident posing an immediate threat to citizen safety occurs, you will need to call 9-1-1.

To obtain additional information from Pierce County Animal Control, please visit their website, Pierce County Animal Control. You may also reach Pierce County Animal Control by email at pcanimalcontrol@co.pierce.wa.us which is monitored during normal business hours.

If you believe an animal residing in your neighborhood is violating either the leash law or the noise ordinance, you must first call 253-798-7387 to receive a call number. You will press #1, routine non-vicious animal complaints, to receive your call number. The information you will need to provide is your name, address and phone number as well as the address or tax parcel number of the violating animal.

If you are unsure if an animal is in violation of the law, you can find more information by choosing the appropriate link later in this section.

Keep your assigned call number in an easy-to-reference location. The assigned call number will be used to document any future violations by the same animal.

The call number you are provided will be documented on the infraction affidavit you will send to animal control. It is critical you have a call number to accurately route the affidavit you are providing. Without the call number, your affidavit can not be used for enforcement. Your affidavit will also need to meet certain requirements before enforcement action can be taken. The requirements are listed in the appropriate section below.
