Bike Map Cover

The Pierce County Bike Map is intended to serve as a guide for bicyclists traveling to major centers, tourist attractions, and other key destinations within Pierce County. It identifies existing bikeways and scheduled bicycle improvements, but does not include future bicycle projects. The bike map focuses on on-road bikeways (e.g. roads with wide lanes, paved shoulders and designated bicycle lanes) and paved shared-use trails.

The bike map is a free publication and can be picked up at several locations. Please call each site ahead of time to make sure that they have copies in stock. A printer-friendly online version is also available too.

Bike helmets are required in unincorporated Pierce County.
You are required to wear a bicycle helmet when riding in unincorporated Pierce County, Tacoma, and other cities and towns in Pierce County. You can receive a citation for riding without a helmet.

Bicycle helmets have been shown to reduce the risk of head injury from a bicycle crash. See our list of locations for finding low cost bike helmets in Pierce County.
