RIDER ALERT - Seasonal Rate Change In Effect September 16, 2009

The Non-Peak Season rate change for the Pierce County Ferry will begin September 16, 2009 and run through May 15, 2010.

Please be aware of this change when purchasing your tickets at the Kiosk or on-line.
Non-Peak Season tickets that were purchased prior to May 15, 2009 will be honored beginning September 16, 2009.

Exchanges, refunds, and pay the difference; are not authorized on Peak Season tickets. Peak Season tickets that have been purchased prior to September 15, 2009 will be honored beginning May 15, 2010.

Commuter and walk-on rates will not be affected by this change.

All fares are round-trip and collected at the Steilacoom Ferry Landing.

There is no monthly or annual ferry pass available.

(1) Senior citizens, age 65 or older, must show proof of age with valid photo identification or present Regional Reduce Fare permit. Disabled passengers must present valid disability identification at the time of boarding (Regional Reduce Fare permit, or VA certification of greater than 40% disability level, Medicare Card or regional ADA paratransit card.)

(2) Commuter tickets are valid for 40 days from date of purchase until the expiration date indicated on each ticket. They may be used by only one passenger per vehicle per trip and may not be used by other vehicles or passengers waiting to board the ferry vessel.

(3) Peak Season is from May 15th through September 15th each year. On all other days, non-peak season rates apply.

(4) Vehicle length is measured from furthest protruding item at the front of the vehicle to the furthest protruding item at the rear of the vehicle and/or trailer. Logging trucks, whether loaded or unloaded, will be charged the 50 to 60 foot category.

(5) Large carry-on items including kayaks, canoes and other items of comparable size, which are typically stowed on the vehicle deck of the ferry vessel, shall be charged at the motorcycle rate. This rate includes the fare for the walk-on passenger carrying the item to be stowed.

(6) All governmental and public institutional vehicles with a tax-exempt license plate, and the occupants, will be provided free passage when conducting official governmental or public institutional business on the islands.

(7) Vehicles 80 feet or longer, or over 11 feet in width, must schedule their departure time in advance. Contact phone number for scheduling is (253) 588-5290.

Commuter Passenger Tickets

Due to ticketing system constraints, commuter passenger tickets must be turned in for a refund before the printed expiration date. Refunds requested after the printed expiration date can not be honored.

Tickets purchased at the Kiosk, on-line, and credit/debit card purchases must be refunded through Pierce County by contacting Mary Tungsvik at (253) 798-4638.

Only cash tickets purchased at the Steilacoom Dock will be refunded by the cashiers.

Full service ticketing available at the Steilacoom Ferry Landing. Customers can purchase tickets using a debit or credit card at the Anderson Island Store Kiosk, and on the web. The following payment types are accepted:
