Why do we have a Strategic Plan?
The Department's 20 year Strategic Plan sets priorities for developing programs, projects, and budgets using input provided by our stakeholders, managers, and staff. The plan provides an opportunity to show what we do, how well we do it, and why it is important.
Our plan includes a closer look at the six systems and programs operated by the Department:
- Airport
- Ferry
- County Roads
- Sewer Utility
- Solid Waste and Recycling
- Surface Water Management
What's in the plan?
The Department's Strategic Plan is divided into two sections. The first section, or Systems Plan, includes a summary of the 20-year needs for maintenance, operations, preservation, improvements and administration of the above six systems. The second section, called the Business Plan, addresses enhancing workforce, improving processes , developing tools to manage work better, improving business structures and stewarding resources. Each Business Plan section includes a vision, goals, and strategies. The Systems Plan horizon is 20 years and the Business Plan 10 years.
