'We are building the capacity of Pierce County Government by developing our employees.'


The OD&T staff translates the needs of the citizen/customer/employee into training and development support to make every Pierce County work unit, department and division effective, efficient and successful. We provide training and opportunities to foster innovative use of employee knowledge, skills, talents and abilities.
Internal Consultation - Working with departments to identify training needs, team effectiveness, communication styles, customer satisfaction, etc.
Assessment - Using a variety of assessment tools to identify training needs, team effectiveness, communication styles, customer satisfaction, etc.
Transition - Working with management and employees toward understanding and moving through the change process.
Strategic Planning - Assisting departments, divisions, work groups and advisory groups with the strategic planning process.
Internal Planning - Regularly scheduled classes are offered to meet a variety of training needs.

Employee Incentive and Recognition Program - Working as part of the EIR Steering Committee providing recognition activities and events for County employees.
