What is an Equal Employment Opportunity Plan (EEOP)? (see next paragraph)


Recipient agencies of federal direct grant funds are required to submit an EEOP, for review with their grant application, to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Civil Rights, Office of Justice Programs. The EEOP is a comprehensive document that analyzes the agency's workforce in comparison to its relevant labor market data. The written plan provides a statistical internal workforce profile by race, sex, and national origin and identifies barriers. Its purpose is to ensure the opportunity for full and equal participation of men and women in the workplace regardless of race, color or national origin. The U.S. Department of Justice website, www.ojp.usdoj.gov/ocr, provides information regarding EEOP and compliance.

Assistance with EEOP compliance and records retention for all grants submitted by Pierce County Government offices must be coordinated through the Pierce County Human Resources Department EEO/ADA Specialist.

Employees who believe they have received or witnessed treatment in violation of the County's EEO Policy must immediately notify one of the following individuals of the alleged action:

  • their supervisor
  • manager
  • Department Director
  • Pierce County EEO/ADA Specialist
  • Pierce County Human Resources Director

It is the employee's option to decide the individual to whom the action will be reported.

To assist us in obtaining information regarding the alleged action, please complete the EEO Complaint Intake Form and forward it to the Human Resources Department. Reports must be made as soon as possible, but in any case, not more than 180 calendar days from the date of the incident.

After receipt and review of the alleged action information, the appropriate process will be determined which includes investigation and complaint resolution.

The First Choice Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides EEO trainings and resources for Pierce County employees. Some trainings are available to be taken on-line. Employees can visit the First Choice website or call them at 1-800-777-4114.
