On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 , the Pierce County Council unanimously voted to appoint Mark Lindquist as Pierce County Prosecutor. Lindquist, formerly the Chief Criminal Deputy, has been with the office for 14 years and has tried nearly every type of case, including domestic violence, rape, child abuse, murder, and the Tacoma Mall shooter. more

Prosecutor's Gang Unit FormedThe Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (PCPAO) has created a specialized gang unit, made possible in part by a grant from Safe Streets Regional Gang Prevention Partnership. In cooperation with Tacoma Police, Pierce County Sheriff and Lakewood detectives, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Greg Greer and Tom Howe in our Robbery and Assault trial team, will work to better investigate and prosecute gang-related violent crime. more

Auto Theft Initiative UpdateDeputy Prosecutor Karen Benson has successfully prosecuted over 100 vehicle theft cases so far this year. Benson is part of the Pierce County Regional Auto Theft Unit, a task force that includes detectives from several local law enforcement agencies and is dedicated to reducing the number of car thefts in Pierce County. Funding for the prosecutor is provided by the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Association grant. more

Update on Superior Court BacklogThe Prosecutor's Office is leading a project to reduce the felony criminal backlog in Pierce County Superior Court. The backlog dropped to a three-year low at the end of August 2009.

Violence Against Women Act Grant Awarded to Victim-Witness ProgramEarlier this summer the PCPAO was awarded a $95,000 grant from the Office of Crime Victim Advocacy, Violence Against Women Act stimulus recovery funds. more

Farewell to Gerry HorneA crowd of over 200 well wishers gathered at the Chambers Creek Environmental Services Building on August 28 to bid farewell to newly-retired Prosecuting Attorney Gerry Horne. The cocktail party/reception included a presentation filled with photos and memories of Mr. Horne's life and contributions to the office. more

Prosecutor's 'Wurst Day' Raises $800 for Domestic Violence VictimsA crowd of almost 100 gathered for a bratwurst and beer tailgate party in the Cheney Stadium parking lot on August 21. Employees of the Prosecutor's Office sold tickets, provided food and donated time in order to raise $800 for the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center.
