The El CID program is a diversion program for first time, non-violent Felony and Misdemeanor offenders. The mission of El CID is to intervene and divert further criminal activity through supervision, counseling and life-skills education.
More than 5,700 clients have been involved in the diversion program since it started in 1974. Over 92% of the participants complete the program successfully by paying back any restitution owed and not re-offending. The program's success is based on an approach of promoting social responsibility and accountability while encouraging individuals to make positive lifestyle changes.
Over 200 clients are under the supervision of two diversion counselors, who provide the guidance, education and resources necessary for low risk offenders to improve their lives and avoid conviction. El CID provides a win-win situation for clients, victims and the court system.
