Domestic Violence Helpline
(253) 798-4166 or Toll Free (800) 764-2420

The Domestic Violence Helpline is a 24 hour phone line for anyone seeking support or information about domestic violence.

In addition to information, support and safety planning, the Helpline provides financial assistance to qualified callers. Funding is available for emergency housing, lock changes, transportation, utility bills and relocation assistance.

When you arrive at the FJC, you will be greeted by a receptionist in the waiting area.

The receptionist will ask you to fill out a brief intake form. The intake form collects basic information about you and provides a list of services available at the FJC. The receptionist will ask you to provide photo identification. A client screening is conducted to ensure the safety of all FJC clients, volunteers and staff. Please bring one of the following:

  • drivers license
  • state identification card
  • or other valid photo identification

The FJC serves only victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence perpetrators seeking service at the FJC will be referred to a different location.

Once the intake form is completed, you will be escorted by an advocate into the center and you will be offered something to eat and drink. The advocate will then take you to an intake room to discuss your reason for visiting the FJC. You will be provided with information about available services. Your advocate will also help you and coordinate the services you need. Most clients spend several hours working with their advocate on various issues and often make return appointments, depending upon individual needs.

When finished, the advocate will ask you to fill out an exit survey to tell us how you felt about your visit. You will also be asked if we can contact you at a later date to check on your safety and/or to ask you to participate in a discussion group regarding your thoughts about the FJC.

Information obtained during your visit is confidential and will not be released without your written consent or a valid court order. However, all FJC staff and partners are mandatory reporters for child abuse, and are obligated to report information about suspected child abuse/neglect to Childrens Protective Services.

There are no fees for services. The only thing you need to bring with you to is valid photo identification.

Additionally, if you have been working with an advocate on the DV Helpline regarding financial assistance, you will need to bring the documentation necessary to process your request. This paperwork will vary depending on the situation. The DV Helpline advocate will explain to you exactly what paperwork will be required.
