The Pierce County Council Community Development and Performance Audit Committees in a joint meeting will receive a presentation on outcomes and recommendations from the Agricultural Resource Land (ARL) Study that was commissioned by the council.
Barney and Worth, Inc. will present an overview and recommendations on Monday, Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Council Chambers, 930 Tacoma Ave. S., Room 1045 in Tacoma. The Pierce County Council authorized funding a study of ARL, including an evaluation and report on agricultural land in Pierce County that has long-term significance for the commercial production of food or other agricultural products. There is already a series of technical reports available online which evaluate the effectiveness of the county’s zoning regulations for protecting commercially viable agricultural lands, compare regulations in other jurisdictions, and assess long-term agricultural trends that has been presented to council. This final presentation will be recommendations for Pierce County moving forward on zoning regulations for protecting these commercially viable agricultural lands.
