Park Impact Fee Process

In 2015, the Pierce County Council appointed the Park Impact Fee Working Group Committee to determine the adequacy of the existing park impact fee to meet future park needs based upon expected population increase; and the relevance of recreational area dedication requirements associated with new residential development. The committee also evaluated the methodology for calculating the impact fee, which had not be adjusted since 1997.
The Committee submitted the Final Report to Council in August 2016. The next opportunity for public comment on the committee’s recommendations are:

September 19 at 1:30 p.m (cancelled) the Community Development Committee will review the Fiscal Policy and Capital Projects associated with the Committee’s Recommendations (930 Tacoma Ave. S. Room 1045).

October 3 at 1:30 p.m. the Community Development Committee will review the Fiscal Policy and Capital Projects lists and changes to the Park Impact Fee Ordinance (930 Tacoma Ave. S. Room 1045).

Council’s consideration of the Park Impact Fee Working Group Committee’s recommendations has not been scheduled. Council meeting dates will be posted as soon as they are available.

Park Impact Fee Working Group Committee

The Park Impact Fee Working Group Committee will produce a recommendation to County Council in early summer 2016. The Working Group will recommend a new park impact fee including the methodology used to establish the impact fee and a potential phasing plan to implement the revised fee over several years.
