The Pierce County Ferry provides service between the town of Steilacoom and Anderson and Ketron islands. All fares are roundtrip and are collected at the Steilacoom Terminal.
The ferry operates seven days a week and service alternates between the M.V. Christine Anderson - which can hold 54 cars and 250 passengers - and the M.V. Steilacoom II, which has a capacity of 54 cars and 300 passengers.
The trip between Anderson Island and Steilacoom is about 3.5 miles, and takes approximately 60 minutes roundtrip. Service to Ketron Island is by reservation only on select runs, and stops add about 4 miles and 20 minutes to the roundtrip.
Pierce County contracts with HMS Ferries to operate and manage the ferry system.
Starting May 1, a new daily run will depart Steilacoom at 7:40 p.m. and head to Anderson Island. The return run will depart Anderson Island at 8:10 p.m. The new run will provide riders with more flexibility when enjoying evening activities on the island or the mainland.
