Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) enables low-income families to
reduce their energy bills by installing insulation in walls, floors, and
ceilings, around ducts and pipes, around water heaters, and near the
foundation and sill, making their homes more energy efficient. Funds are
used to improve the energy performance of dwellings families in need,
using the most advanced technologies and testing procedures available in
the housing industry.

New Program Focus!!
The Washington State legislature in 2015 expanded its investment in healthy, safe and energy efficient low-income weatherization to include improvements that help children and adults combat asthma. This new program initiative is called Weatherization Plus Health.
Weatherization Plus Health combines energy and cost saving weatherization improvements in low-income homes with measures that reduce health risks and health costs for vulnerable families. It is targeted to improve the home environments for children and adults with asthma.
Pierce County Weatherization Assistance has partnered with the Pierce County Health Department to assist Qualified households with occupants who have Asthma or COPD.
